Drive Profit And Create a Great Workplace


Many companies struggled or failed during the Great Recession of 2008-10. However, a number of our clients defied the odds and grew in spite of the economic downturn. The clients were leading some of the fastest growing companies in the US. The leaders were doing something different from the others.

While our clients were in different industries and had different leadership styles, they did have a few things in common: Focus, Accountability and Team Chemistry. The leaders focused their teams with 90-day goals and made sure everyone shared the company’s mission. Team members were expected to not only meet performance expectations but also display behaviors that fostered team chemistry.

The leaders were using a coaching tool we introduced to them called the Performance-Values (PV) Matrix. The matrix is a simple X-Y graph with the vertical axis representing performance and the horizontal axis representing core values. The PV Matrix helps team members visualize how their performance impacts a company and how their behaviors align with an organization’s core values.

In 2014, we launched the Performance Culture System as a web-based performance management software. The software made it much easier to coach employees and the reporting features helped leaders make better HR decisions.

The results were amazing. The clients not only increased revenue by 20 to 50 percent in the first year, but also experienced lower turnover, less absenteeism, and higher productivity. For the first time, both managers and employees actually liked the new performance management process!
