Brian Smith

Bio: Brian is a senior executive with experience in a wide array of business situations and uses this knowledge to facilitate peer advisory boards and engage in personal executive coaching. Prior to Cornerstone. Brian was a founding member of Life Equity, LLC, and helped secure over $1 billion in financing from Berkshire Hathaway, Bear Stearns, JP Morgan, etc. as well as negotiating the sale of a majority interest to Kohlberg & Co., in 2011. Brian was also the President and COO of Cole National Corporation, a $1.1 billion company, operating over 3,400 retail locations. Brian earned both his B.A. in marketing and his M.B.A in Accounting and Finance from Cornell University.

Bio: Rob Campbell is a retired Army Colonel, husband, father, author and leadership speaker. He is a 27-year Army veteran, paratrooper and ranger with service in Iraq and Afghanistan. Rob led organizations ranging in size from 24 to 5,000 people overcoming challenges and leading change. As Commander or CEO of a 5,000-person Infantry Brigade, Rob and his team achieved Army-leading (#1 of 34 Brigades) results in personnel performance, soldier retention and promotion selection rates. As an equity partner in a business owned by a private equity firm, he had the opportunity to play a major role in transforming a business to meet the financial return required by the private equity investors. Rich has conducted strategic planning reviews, implemented benchmarking and competitive assessments, and performed SWOT analyses at all organization levels. He works with peer advisory boards organized by The Alternative Board®, conducts “Creating Effective Workplace” workshops based on Marcus Buckingham’s “First, Break All the Rules,” and serves as an Executive Business Coach. He also undertakes private equity/restructuring assignments. Prior to joining Cornerstone Advisory Partners, Rich held senior level organization management and human resource positions and was a member of several Executive Committees in diverse business sectors. Having walked in the shoes of the leaders he consults, Rich brings tremendous credibility and wisdom to improving business processes and organizational effectiveness. Rich earned a Bachelors of Science in Economics from Rutgers University. He has served on the Boards of UNC-Greensboro, School of Human Environmental Sciences, Guilford County Partnership for Children, and North Carolina Manufacturer’s Association.
